📋 About the MEXT Research Scholarship 2027

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan is offering its prestigious fully-funded Research Scholarship for 2027. This is the Embassy Recommendation route, specifically for international students, including Pakistanis, who wish to pursue a Master's or PhD degree at Japanese universities.

The program is designed to foster future leaders who will contribute to the friendship between Pakistan and Japan. You will initially enter Japan as a "Research Student" (non-regular student), during which you can improve your Japanese and prepare for the entrance examination to formally enroll in a degree program. The scholarship covers all tuition, provides a generous monthly stipend, and includes round-trip airfare.

🎁 Scholarship Benefits & Financial Coverage

This is a fully funded scholarship. The key benefits include:

  • Monthly Stipend:
    • ¥143,000/month during the non-regular student (research student) period.

    • ¥145,000/month for regular PhD students.
  • Supplemental Regional Allowance: An additional ¥2,000 or ¥3,000 per month for those studying in designated regions.
  • Full Tuition Waiver: All entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition fees are completely waived. Note: the entrance exam fee will be borne by the grantee if they cannot proceed to the course.

  • Accommodation Support: Assistance in finding accommodation in university dormitories (costs are borne by the student).
